This study will review Australian policy and legislation on the governance of religious diversity. We will examine the impact of this legislation on the negotiation of religious difference for both religious and secular actors. We are currently examining significant cases that have been heard before the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal, analysing how these cases reflect important issues related to the negotiation of religious diversity and legislation in Australia. We are also conducting interviews with religious leaders and members of religious communities in Victoria, to better understand the impact of the legislation on the broader community.
